The Poland and Romania Promoting Excellence in Teaching project is an online learning initiative run by International Baccalaureate and sponsored by ArcelorMittal which aims to support state schools in Poland and Romania in maximizing the effectiveness of teaching and learning of the National Curriculum.
Brief
International Baccalaureate (IB) approached Website Express at the start of this initiative to develop a series of five 'Teaching and Learning from an International Perspective' online workshops for both the Poland and Romania phases. It was critical to meet the tight deadlines required for each stage of this project in order for it succeed, so course development required a quick turn around whilst the quality online learning experience, accessible for teachers new to online workshops, was preserved.
Design
The courses needed to fit within the existing IB Moodle design and follow established branding guidelines, yet also be visually appealing to encourage participation and increase accessibility. The solution was to develop courses using a simple and elegant structure which made it easy for participants new to online learning to find their way around the courses, with judicious use of customised graphics and iconography to make the workshops aesthetically pleasing.
Outcome
Courses were developed to deadline and the feedback received has been very positive, with many first time online workshop users being "pleasantly surprised" not only at the pedagogical content but the ease of navigation and collaboration.
